Hello MMF Students, Friends, & Family,

Our next Student Jam will be held as part of our Spring Showcase on Sunday, May 3, 11am-4pm at the High Noon Saloon.  If you’re not familiar, the Jam gives students an opportunity to perform together for an audience, with no prior rehearsal, rather learning their parts in their weekly lessons with their instructors. It is open to all Foundry students, and it’s always a great chance to get some experience and have some fun!

As you may know, 2026 marks the Foundry’s twentieth anniversary!  So, we’re going to celebrate that in all three Student Jams this year, starting with ’20 Years of Madison Music Foundry – Student Jam Greatest Hits.’  We looked at Student Jams from years gone by and selected songs that had the highest student participation.  Here’s the list for our next Jam:

‘Twenty Years of Madison Music Foundry – Student Jam Greatest Hits’

  1. I Love Rock n’ Roll – Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
  2. Hooked on a Feeling – Blue Swede
  3. Centuries – Fall Out Boy
  4. Action – Mavis Staples
  5. House of the Rising Sun – The Animals
  6. 9 to 5 – Dolly Parton
  7. Wagon Wheel – Old Crow Medicine Show
  8. Rolling in the Deep – Adele

The next Student Showcase will be Sunday, May 4, 11am-4pm at the High Noon Saloon. Programs featured include:

Student Jam
Students learn their part to a song and then perform it live on stage with no prior rehearsal. Students picked the song for this upcoming jam. The Student Jam is a performed opportunity offered exclusively to lesson students at the Foundry for no additional cost.

Rock Workshop
Participants are placed into bands based on age, ability, and interest. They write three songs, record them at Blast House Studios, and then play a gig at the High Noon Saloon. This round of RW will feature four new bands.

Performance Shop
These bands rehearse weekly learning covers in a particular style. They then play gigs around the area. We have two rock bands: The Sandblasters and The Drillers, and a funk/soul horn band The Blue Dyes.
