October: A Time to Make Beats

Drumming, DJing, and more at the Foundry!

We're excited to offer some very special classes this October. We're again holding our African Drumming class with Mass Mbaye. Mass just got back from visiting his family in Senegal and brought with him more sabar drums! We are pleased to say that Elmore Lawson will be leading a free drum circle on Saturday mornings followed by a Djembe class. And another new class that people have been asking for is Electronic Music: DJing and Production by local DJ and beatmaker Ryan Savic.

Happy Birthday Madison Music Foundry and Blast House Studios!
On October 7, 2006 the empty warehouse at 2818 Index Rd was converted into a 7,000 square foot music "foundry" (see picture). Thanks to everyone for 8 great years!

And on October 1, 2009, Mike Olson became the proud new owner of Blast House Studios (http://www.blasthousestudios.com) which has grown into one of the areas finest recording studios! It's been a busy year for the Blast House. Dozens of artists have recorded albums, TV show themes, drum samples, video game music and more. Read all about it
