The online world is a big place with so many opportunities and ways to connect. Standing out and being heard above the digital noise can be a tough obstacle to overcome. Everyone is competing for a user’s attention.

In this final installment of the MMF Music Business series we will address the challenges of the online realm and ways to level up your game. We will cover popular social media platforms and related tool, how to implement a solid artist profile; including marketing strategies so that you can be organized, effective, and remain sane in the process. We will also touch on the importance of utilizing a dedicated band website and the role that it plays in marketing.This class will be kept small (maximum of six) so all participants get individual attention on their material. Prerequisites: Having a project, band or solo act that you are working on is helpful but not required. If you don't have a current project, then you will invent a band and still go through the process.

This is the first class of a three-part series on the basics of the music business. Classes may be taken individually or as a series.

Per Class: $38 | $34 Current Foundry Students
Entire Series: $101 | $91 Current Foundry Students

Group (two or more in the same band or student and parent)
Groups can only sign up for the entire series
$57 per group member (minimum of two)

Maximum enrollment: 6 (may be more if signing up as a group. But there will be no more than six separate projects)

Jourdan began studying music when he was just seven years old. He received an A.A.S. in Music Production from McNally Smith College of Music and a B.S. in Music Theory and Composition from UW-La Crosse. In addition to teaching privately Jourdan works as a freelance musician, recording engineer, and graphic designer. He performs regionally with a variety of groups and as a solo artist.

Teaching since 2002, Jourdan's goal is to empower each student with musical knowledge and the skills needed to be a successful musician. The path taken to achieve this goal is individualized and is based upon the student’s goals, whether it be a professional career in music or an enjoyable personal hobby to share with friends and family.
